MobileHelp Medical Alert Review 2026

Medical Alert Pendant

MobileHelp isn’t going to win any awards for having the fastest response times or the fanciest app. What they will win on is simplicity and affordability. No equipment fees on any system, pricing that starts at $24.95 a month, and a genuine 30-day trial that lets you return everything if it’s not working out.

We tested the Home Duo Bundle (Classic Cellular plus the Solo mobile) over several weeks. Sarah set up the home system for a neighbor who’d been putting off getting a medical alert because she didn’t want to pay $150 for a device upfront. The look of relief when Sarah explained there was no equipment cost was something she still talks about.

The systems worked reliably in our testing, and the agents were professional. The 26-second response time is slower than what you’ll get from Bay Alarm Medical or Medical Guardian, and the caregiver app was frustratingly glitchy. But for people whose main priority is getting protected without a big upfront expense, MobileHelp delivers where it matters.

Note: MobileHelp has undergone corporate ownership changes through private equity acquisitions. Pricing and service terms may have been updated. Prices and availability should be verified on the provider’s website.

Key Findings

  • In 10 test calls, MobileHelp systems responded in an average of 26 seconds
  • Systems start at $24.95/month with no activation or equipment fees
  • Waterproof help buttons allow shower-safe wear — important since bathrooms are common fall sites
  • The MobileHelp Connect caregiver app is available but was unreliable in testing

Why Trust SeniorsList?

For this review, we purchased the MobileHelp Home Duo Bundle (Classic Cellular + Solo) and tested both systems over multiple weeks:

  • 10 test calls per system with recorded response times
  • Simulated fall tests to evaluate fall detection accuracy
  • In-home range testing across different room distances
  • Evaluation of the MobileHelp Connect caregiver portal
  • Pricing analysis compared to competing systems

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • No upfront equipment costs — all devices are leased
  • Flexible payment options: monthly, quarterly, semiannually, or annually
  • 1,400-foot in-home pendant range covered every corner of our test home
  • Includes a free lockbox (valued at $29.95) with all plans
  • No long-term contracts

Cons

  • 26-second average response time is slower than Medical Guardian (8 sec) and Bay Alarm Medical (16 sec)
  • Caregiver app is inconsistent and lacks real-time GPS functionality
  • No smartwatch option available
  • Fall detection requires a separate pendant on most systems

Testing the Classic Cellular

Setup took under 10 minutes — plug in the base unit, press the test button, and confirm activation. The 1,400-foot pendant range covered our entire test home including the backyard.

Test calls connected through the base unit’s speakerphone. Response agents were professional and clearly trained. Average response time: 26 seconds. While this is above Medical Guardian’s 8-second and Bay Alarm Medical’s 16-second averages, it’s still faster than the industry average of 30–45 seconds.

Testing the Solo (Mobile)

The Solo is a mobile pendant with GPS. In outdoor tests, agents accurately identified our location by cross streets on every call. Fall detection (a separate pendant for the Solo) required an extra $5.50/month but detected a majority of our simulated falls.

The Solo’s main limitation is the two-piece setup — users must wear both the mobile unit and the separate fall detection pendant. Some may find this cumbersome.

Fall Detection

Across our fall detection tests, MobileHelp’s performance was above average but not top-tier. The fall detection pendant detected most fast falls but was less reliable with slow, gradual descents. False alarms when dropping the device were frequent but easy to cancel by holding the button.

Caregiver App (MobileHelp Connect)

The MobileHelp Connect portal (available on iOS, Android, and web) allows caregivers to view device location and emergency alert history. In testing, we found the app inconsistent — location updates were unreliable and the interface was harder to use than competing apps from Bay Alarm Medical or Medical Guardian. The OnGuard Alerts feature ($2.99/month) sends caregivers a text message when the emergency button is pressed, which partially compensates.

Pricing

SystemMonthlyQuarterlyAnnually
Classic Cellular$24.95$74.85$274.85
Solo$34.95$104.85$384.45
Home Duo Bundle$44.95$134.85$494.45

Fall detection adds $5.50–$11/month. A 30-day risk-free trial is available. Equipment is returned on cancellation; prorated refunds issued after 30 days.

MobileHelp vs. Life Alert

MobileHelp compares favorably against Life Alert on every measure except battery life (Life Alert’s mobile unit uses a disposable battery lasting years). MobileHelp costs significantly less ($24.95 vs. $49.95/month for a home system), doesn’t require a 3-year contract, and in testing our agents answered calls far more quickly (26 seconds vs. 2+ minutes for Life Alert).

Final Verdict

MobileHelp works well for users who prioritize cost and want to avoid upfront equipment fees. The 30-day trial and month-to-month commitment make it a low-risk choice.

For users who want the fastest response times or strong caregiver app features, Bay Alarm Medical or Medical Guardian will serve them better. But for straightforward, affordable protection — especially for in-home use — MobileHelp delivers reliable results.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is MobileHelp's customer service quality?
In our testing, MobileHelp's monitoring agents were professional, courteous, and clearly trained. Response agents supported over 240 languages through the LanguageLine service. However, the MobileHelp Connect caregiver app was glitchy and unreliable, which is a notable weakness compared to competitors like Medical Guardian and Bay Alarm Medical.
Can I bring my MobileHelp pendant in the shower?
Yes. All MobileHelp help button pendants and wristbands are waterproof and safe for shower use. The mobile base unit and wall-mounted buttons are not waterproof.
Does MobileHelp require a contract?
No. MobileHelp operates month-to-month. A 30-day risk-free trial allows full refunds. After 30 days, prorated refunds are available on cancellation.
What is the in-home range for MobileHelp?
The MobileHelp Classic Cellular has a pendant range of up to 1,400 feet from the base unit, which covers most home sizes. The Classic Landline has a shorter range of 600 feet.
